We all know that there is money to be made when working in recruitment because it is a sales based role with targets that need to be met. This is why each individual is likely to earn a varying wage in comparison to another colleague, just as your own salary may vary from one month to the next.
Your achievements are rewarded by commission and bonuses but these are only going to apply to you if you have made the necessary sales.
So it is safe to presume that Recruitment consultants will earn different amounts of money from each other however one thing that remains consistent is your basic wage. This is determined by the amount of work experience you have in the industry. And it is also determined by the individual’s specialization, for example is this recruitment consultant a trainee or entering at management level.
As a trainee recruitment consultant your basic wage will range from £14,000 to £20,000. With this is mind it is recorded that the average salary for an experienced recruitment consultant is around £26,000.
The more experienced you are the more senior you will become and your pay will reflect this as most senior consultants are likely to be earning around £32,000 excluding bonuses or commission. It is worth mentioning here that these salaries can vary and that these numbers are estimates and averages.
There is always the potential to earn more money than this in recruitment. If you are prepared to put the work in then you will see the results in your salary.
If you should progress to management level within the industry; which this in some cases can take around 10-15 years of experience to reach. But should you reach this level then you can expect to be earning £40,000 excluding commission and bonuses.
So the total average salary will increase once commission is included. It is also worth knowing that the sector and area in which you work in will have an affect your earnings. Bair in mind that most consultants earn more money if their location of work in London for example. But realistically the “world is your oyster” as they say because once you are working in this industry the amount you earn will ultimately be down to you and your hard work!
