    Stock Broker

Stockbroker Training requires a sound academic and numerate background with a minimum of a 2:1 undergraduate degree.

You will then become a trainee stockbroker within a firm or investment bank. Four years of employment within the firm will be included as work experience towards your FSA approved qualification such as the Securities and Investment Institute (“SII”) Level 3 Certificate in Investments or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA©) Charter in Financial Analysis. Once you have successfully demonstrated that you are competent within your field your FSA registered employer will nominate you for approval of the FSA Approved Person Status – this certification is required by all stockbrokers practicing in the UK.

Stockbroker Training – How long does it take to become qualified?

The length of time it takes to become a qualified stockbroker can vary depending on which qualification you chose to embark on but to obtain the qualification of a CFA Charterholder, for example, an individual must pass each of three six-hour exams, possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and have at least 48 months of qualified, professional work experience.

Stockbroker Training – What are the entry requirements?

Although there are no formal entry requirements for the FSA approved courses a minimum of a B at GCSE level and strong A Levels plus at least a 2:1 undergraduate degree are often expected.

It is advised that you check with your chosen institution prior to submitting your application.
